Reverend Mark J. Roy

Senior Pastor, Good Shepherd Ministries



everend Mark J. Roy was born and raised in Washington, DC.  He is a proud product of the District of Columbia Public School system.  He graduated from Spingarn High School and attended the University of the District of Columbia.

Rev. Roy's ministerial studies have been at the Washington Bible College in Lanham, MD and he continues his studies at the Maple Springs Bible College and Seminary in Capitol Heights, MD.  In May, 2012 Reverend Roy received his Honorary Doctrine Degree from Cornerstone Christian University, in Orlando, Florida. 

Rev. Roy joined Mount Bethel Baptist Church located on Rhode Island NW, Washington, DC in June 1986.  There he served as the 2nd Vice Chairman of the Trustee Ministry.  He also served as a Deacon for many years before accepting his call from God to become a minister of Gospel.  He was licensed to preach the Gospel on December 4, 1998 and was ordained February 24, 2001. He then served as the First Assistant to the Pastor at Mount Bethel.

Later, Rev. Roy moved his membership to the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Washington, DC,   where he served for many years as an Associate Minister.  During his tenure at Mt. Olive he taught Sunday Church School and Vacation Bible School.  He also supervised the Jr. Deacons Ministry, was director of the Men’s Ministry, Couples ministry, and president of Voices of Praise and a member of the Men’s Chorus.  Rev. Roy was always willing to use his melodious voice to sing praises to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In January, 2012 Rev. Roy was installed as Senior Pastor of the Good Shepherd Ministries Church in Capitol Heights, Maryland and continues in this capacity today.

Reverend Roy is not only a preacher of the Gospel but is also a gifted and accomplished carpenter for the District of Columbia Government.

Rev. Roy is married to Brenda Riddick-Roy.  He is the biological father to Stephen Roy (Stacy) and LaTasha Roy-Sterrett (Vincent) and a great father figure to many others.  He has been blessed with 5 wonderful grandchildren, Stephen, Jr., Semaj Allen, Asaiah Amore, Cataleya Arianna, and Kitai.  His motto is “Winners Never Quit and Quitters Never Win”.  Of all of Rev. Roy's attributes, his greatest of all is that he is a “Man of God” whose focus is the “Great Commission”.
